It was a turbulent but fruitful game for Swiss champion ice hockey team SC Bern, who have been using a GreenIce synthetic ice rink for their official conditioning training and shooting practice since 2014.
The rule of ice hockey is that there can never be more than four foreign players in a game. For the first time this season, SC Bern used four foreign forward players in their cup quarterfinals feat against HC Ambrì-Piotta. It was Zach Boychuk’s fourth game for the team, and he changed the course of it in the first third of the game with two strikes, the second one in the last minute of the first third of the game — 2:1.
The central portion of the game begins with another hit for SC Bern, this time by Jan Mursak, and the team leads until Mursak is banished to the benches for four minutes due to getting angry and vocal about it — and giving someone a hook.
The opposition takes the lead now, profiting off the setback, and they draw 24 seconds before the horn. Anything can happen now.
But it gets worse for SCB — Marco Müller scores for the 3:4 in the 44th minute, after which there isn’t much hope. Tristan Scherwey however, scores twice only moments before the end, and within 45 seconds brings victory home for SC Bern. Andrew Ebbett scores the last goal and makes the 6:4.
Right after the game they drew for the semifinals; SC Bern will host EV Zug on Wednesday, 19 December at 07:45PM. In the other semifinals game, the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers will face the SCL Tigers.
